The centre point of the Irish Celtic cross is symbolic of the focus of spiritual development.

 

It is thought that the ancient Celts put the circle around the Christian cross so that they could still worship the sun through the circle. When they looked at the Irish Celtic cross they would worship it through the circle... and follow the cross points to the actual spiritual focus point in the middle of the Irish Celtic cross.
